Confined Water

Begin your diving certification adventure with PADI’s Open Water Diver course. During this portion of the Open Water Diver course, we will complete the first 2 components of the overall certification process: knowledge development and confined water training. This course is held over a weekend, focusing on knowledge development review in the morning and transitioning to the pool in the afternoon. Our favorite part of this weekend is the group dinner on Saturday night after the pool, that’s where the students can ask us the weird questions they didn’t want to during the day!

Requirements:
-10 years of age or older
-Comfortable in the water, able to swim, and medically fit for diving
-Mask, fins, snorkel, and boots; we will help you with proper fit and selection

Knowledge Development:
-Choose your home-study materials: either an e-learning program or book version -Throughout the material, you will learn about the basics of scuba diving, including the principles, concepts and terms you need to know for dive safety and enjoyment
-As you read through the 5 chapters, you will participate in self-assessments, and will utilize chapter review questions to confirm your knowledge
-Through instructor-led review and group discussions, we will supplement the knowledge you gained during your home-study with our group knowledge development session, and administer any necessary quizzes or exams

Confined Water:
-Starting slowly and building gradually, we will demonstrate basic scuba skills for you in the pool, and give you the opportunity to practice those skills with our guidance
-The skills will break into 3 basic groups: skills we will use on every dive, skills we may need to use occasionally, and basic skills we may need in an emergency
-Progress in this portion is skill-based, and the goal is to ensure comfort and mastery with each skill before moving on
